I had to be honest with Lyric Benson. I’m not that into poetry. But reading her book French Kissing God: A Journey to Enlightenment, I can honestly say she opened up my eyes to poetry in a unique way!
Lyric deeply experiences God as a manifestation in everyday experiences, in everything we touch, in every human being. She joins the show to discuss her book French Kissing God which displays how intimately accessible God is to Lyric! There is no place Lyric refuses to take God, that’s for sure!
Lyric is the daughter of actor/director/songwriter Robby Benson and actress/rock star Karla DeVito. She came from a non-religious, Hollywood-influenced home. But at the age of 19, she was suddenly faced with a major family health crisis, her own unimaginable physical pain, and the loss of a dear friend in the Twin Towers collapse on 9/11. She was in such extreme emotional and physical agony, she began to pray. And that moment changed her life.
Listen in as Lyric talks about growing up in Hollywood with famous parents and then embarking on a journey to be a celibate monk for 8 years! She shares her amazing experiences and how they contributed to her new album and her new book.
